HOSP 473 - Sustainable Destination Planning and Management


This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, practices, and challenges involved in creating and managing sustainable tourism destinations, businesses, and experiences. Using case studies to  critically examine stakeholders, management approaches, and governance structures within the context of  global sustainability. Tourism being a major contributor to the global GDP, sustainable management practices  are central to a rapidly evolving field that seeks to balance the economic, environmental, and socio-cultural dimensions of tourism to ensure long-term benefits for both tourists and host communities. Professional Certification: Students who complete this course will be fully prepared to sit for the exam to earn a Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism from the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), a globally recognized credential that demonstrates expertise in sustainable tourism practices.
