KIN 490 - Evolutionary Medicine The principles of evolutionary theory will be used to examine problems of medicine and public health. One theme will be the difference between proximate or direct cases of disease and the ultimate or evolutionary causes. The course will emphasize conditions of health and illness that require both proximate and ultimate explanations. Additionally, the course is designed to illustrate how an appreciation of the ultimate causes for disease may lead to new strategies for prevention and treatment.
