HCOM 110 - Fundamentals of Speaking and Listening This course introduces students to foundational concepts and skills that support effective and ethical speaking and listening, in public contexts. Students receive a brief introduction to rhetorical theory and learn how the practices of public speaking and listening prepare them to be engaged citizens in their communities. Students are provided multiple opportunities to practice speaking and listening through in-class performance assignments. The course also emphasizes the skill of listening to, and integrating, multiple perspectives through group discussion.
