MATH 420 - Mathematical Analysis I A rigorous introduction to the real number system studying the properties and structure of the real numbers and the completeness axiom. Develops a rigorous understanding of real sequences, open, closed, and compact sets of real numbers, the continuity, differentiability, and integration of real functions leading to the proofs of the Fundamental Theorems of Calculus. Includes an introduction to metric spaces as a generalization of the real number system.
Prerequisite(s)/Corequisite(s): (Prereq: MATH 250 and MATH 322 with a C- or better) Typically Offered: Spring term only
