HCOM 336 - Poetry and Gender A literature course in contemporary multicultural poetry, with a focus on gender issues. “A new kind of man/a new kind of woman,” (in the words of poet Muriel Rukeyser) names a central theme of 20th century American literature and life the re-imagining of women’s and men’s lives. Students examine poets’ perspectives of gender shifts.
