HCOM 436 - Literature of Sexualities Students analyze literary criticism that offers criteria for defining straight, cisgender, asexual, gay, lesbian, bisexual, intersex, transsexual, transgender and other sexual ways of being in literary tradition(s). We explore canonized, non-canonical, and marginalized texts in relationship to issues of sexuality and authorship, content, genre, and form. As well, students come to understand the long-standing politicization and censorship of the sexualized body in literature.
