SPED 571 - Teaching Social-Communicative Skills to Students with Disabilities
This course is designed to prepare teachers to teach social-communicative skills to students with disabilities, including students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Topics covered include implementing evidence-based practices to teach various modes of communication including verbal and augmentative and alternative communication such as picture exchange and speech generating devices. Strategies for teaching the social aspects of communication are also covered. Includes both coursework and fieldwork.
