SL 490 - Community, Research and Social Action This course takes a cross-disciplinary and community-based approach to exploring Participatory Action Research (PAR), a collaborative process of inquiry that enables communities to identify and address the issues they consider important through research and action. Prioritizing the voices and experiences of those most affected by the topics we explore, students will examine key themes of power, knowledge, representation, and social change. Through hands-on engagement in the PAR process and service-learning projects, students will deepen their understanding of PAR tools, frameworks, and ethical considerations, fostering meaningful connections between research and social action.
