GS 336 - Cultural Geography: Place, Power, and Positioning

Cultural geography is the study of the relationship between culture and place. We examine different places and social groups with respect to issues such as dis/ability, ethnicity, gender, race, sexuality, and how the processes and practices of othering, colonialism, imperialism, nationalism, and religion shape the lives of people in different locales and contexts, fostering senses of belonging and exclusion. We explore how spaces and places are culturally, and unequally, made.
