MSCI 283 - SCUBA III: Occupational Diving Techniques


This course provides divers with a deeper understanding of occupational diving - scientific & leadership diving skill sets. Skills introduced and evaluated are demonstrated by the student at a leadership level by the end of the course. Combo of pool and open water training are designed with this goal in mind. Final evaluation focuses on mastery of theoretical and practical skills. Successful evaluation qualifies students as a NAUI Master Diver. Topics and skills to be introduced: Adv. Applied Science; Specialized Gear; Dive Safety; Dive Environment. This course requires that you pass a swim test during the first week of the semester, including: swim 400 yards in 12 minutes or less; swim a 25 yard swim on single breath without surfacing; tow a buddy 25 yards and tread water for 10 minutes.
