HCOM 401 - Real Property Law in California This course provides an advanced overview of real estate laws in California, and its relationship to housing crises throughout the state’s history. This course covers key topics in real estate laws, including real property rights, different types of real estate, sales contract, land transaction process, government policies, marketing, mortgage, rental laws, and real estate licensing laws. Students will acquire essential knowledge of real estate terms and definitions, such as deed, zoning, escrow, and CC&R. Students will also obtain skills to detect, study, and solve social justice issues in real estate including housing shortage, gentrification, and discrimination. This course can meet the 45 hour course requirement by California Department of Real Estate as the elective (along with two other 45 hour courses - Real Estate Principle and Real Estate Practice, can be taken online or at community colleges), to be eligible to take the California real estate salesperson exam.
