MPA 107 - Musicianship IV
Pitch topics include modulations to distant keys, mode mixture, non-dominant 7th chords, Neapolitan and augmented 6th chords, extended and altered chords, diatonic modes, non-diatonic and synthetic scales (whole-tone, pentatonic, octatonic), and post-tonal materials; rhythmic topics include irregular beat divisions, polyrhythms, as well as asymmetrical and mixed meters. Students perform and sight-read exercises. Individual sight-singing, rhythmic, and dictation examinations.
