MPA 304 - Writing About Music


Introduction to reading and writing strategies for music’s academic and professional contexts. Course discussions and assignments close a loop between reading – through the comprehension, evaluation, and analysis of texts of varied genre and purpose – and writing – through focused writing and critique, with emphasis on development, structure, paragraphing, tone, mechanics, the function and citation of sources, scope, and the joy of writing as both creative act and vehicle for self-reflection.
