HCOM 321 - Introduction to Rhetoric and Culture This course examines the role of communication in contemporary society. Students are introduced to rhetorical theories as tools to analyze and critique a variety of cultural and public texts such as literature, political speeches, social movement campaigns, films, television, and advertisements. The course develops understanding of rhetorical concepts, ability to interpret and critically analyze the diverse messages that surround us, and skill in using written and oral communication to establish community and/or advocate for change in the world.
