Dean & Staff
Dr. Phillip G. Post, Ph.D., Dean
Dr. Phillip G. Post joined Cal State Monterey Bay in April 2025 from New Mexico State University (NMSU), where he has most recently served as interim dean for the College of Health, Education and Social Transformation (HEST). He brings with him more than 15 years of experience working in higher education and has served in a leadership role since 2018 when he was appointed as department head for Kinesiology at NMSU. He served as associate dean for HEST beginning in 2020, and most recently was appointed to the interim dean role in 2024 at the same institution.
In his role as interim dean at NMSU, Dr. Post has proven himself to be adept at strategic planning and moved the college toward long-term growth and sustainability. He has proven himself an asset in building relationships with external partners, including alumni, donors and legislative officials, and embraces communication and transparency.
Post has shown a commitment to supporting students, faculty and staff, with an emphasis on inclusivity. He holds a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, a master’s in kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton, and a doctorate in exercise and sports sciences from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
