Dean & Staff

Juanita Cole, Ph.D., Dean

Dr. Cole brings a wealth of administrative experience to her role as the CAHSS Dean. Most recently she served as Acting Deputy Provost for the Office of Academic Affairs at National Defense University. Before this appointment, she was assistant and associate dean for the College of Information and Cyberspace at National Defense University. She was a tenured professor of Psychology at Azusa Pacific University and held senior administrative and academic appointments in private and public universities. Dr. Cole is an affiliated research scholar in the Laboratory of Comparative Human Cognition at UC San Diego, where she focuses her research on best practices for student success. Her research on culture, cognition, and child development was sponsored by the American Education Research Association, National Science Foundation, and National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Cole holds a B.A. from San Diego State University, a M.A. from Pepperdine University, and a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Howard University. She participated in numerous leadership programs, including the American Council on Education Fellows program and the Women’s Leadership Development Institute through the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities. Dr. Cole completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UC San Diego. She is the recipient of numerous awards and honors for her service to teaching, research, and leadership.
