Dean & Staff

Karen Myers-Bowman, Ph.D., Dean

Karen Myers-Bowman joins CSUMB as the Dean for the College of Education on July 31, 2023. Karen comes to CSUMB from San Diego State University, where she has served as the interim dean of the SDSU Global Campus since October 2022, as a senior associate dean for the College of Education for three years, and as chair of the Department of Child and Family Development.

Prior to SDSU, she was on faculty at Kansas State University for 19 years and at North Dakota State University for four years. She brings with her experience in diversifying educational programs to meet both student needs and workforce trends, establishing collaborative relationships with partners, and fostering an inclusive environment.

Myers-Bowman has a bachelor’s in psychology from Manchester University and a master’s and a doctorate in child development and family studies from Purdue University.
