The Spanish Language and Hispanic Cultures Minor provides you with contextualized knowledge of the languages, cultures, and literature of Latinx populations across the U.S., Latin America, and the Iberian Peninsula. Aside from having to attain and demonstrate intermediate-high level proficiency in the Spanish language (according to ACTFL guidelines), you also attain a basic understanding of the philosophical perspectives (ideas, beliefs, attitudes, and values), behavioral practices (patterns of social interactions), customs and creative patterns (literature, art, music, etc.) of the Hispanic cultures addressed by your learning experiences.

Required Courses

Please note: Twelve of the units taken to complete a minor (6 of which are upper division) may not be used in fulfillment of other minors, concentrations, or major requirements.

As this minor requires intermediate language proficiency, students are advised to complete the CSUMB World Culture and Language Requirement in Spanish prior to beginning this minor.
