Music Technology Concentration

The Concentration in Music Technology provides students with skills, knowledge, and experience for a wide range of pursuits in music and other audio-related fields. Coursework and projects can involve recording in the program’s professional-quality studios, designing unique instruments in the computer lab, providing live sound for performances, and creating original sound worlds for film projects. The concentration welcomes both students interested primarily in collaborative engineering experience and those aspiring to best harness technology in their own music making.

As part of the B.A. in Music, the concentration also provides students with a solid foundation in core musicianship skills. Students graduate with a balanced background in performance, ear training, music theory, composition, and musicology in addition to their technological focus.
Students bring all of these skills together in a culminating Capstone thesis project on a self-selected topic.
