If you transferred into CSUMB as an AA-T-certified student in Journalism, you must complete the following courses for your bachelor’s degree in Humanities & Communication at CSUMB. If you are unsure about your transfer status, please talk to an advisor.

HCOM BA Core Requirements


All HCOM students must complete one approved research or theory intensive course, indicated as (RTI) in the course lists below; additional RTI courses are indicated in the major core.

Students may not double count an HCOM core course and a concentration course, nor may they double count a concentration course for a required area within the major core.

Journalism & Media Studies Concentration


Students must complete at least twelve (12) units of the following concentration coursework

General Education and University Requirements


To satisfy the requirements of the degree, students must successfully complete all Undergraduate Requirements .  Several of these (Upper division GE Area 3, Upper division GE Area 4, American Institutions, Upper division Service Learning, and GWAR) are embedded in the major curriculum.

Select and complete coursework to meet the following requirements:

Students may select additional elective coursework if necessary to complete 60 units.
