If you transferred into CSUMB as an AA-T-certified student in Music, you must complete the following courses for bachelor’s degree in Music. If you are unsure about your transfer status, please talk to an advisor.

Music AA-T to Music BA Core Requirements

Complete one of the following courses, not previously completed at the CCC:
MPA 100 - Music Fundamentals Units: 3
MPA 101 - Diatonic Harmony Units: 3
Complete all of the following courses:
MPA 108 - Introduction to Music Production Units: 2
MPA 114 - Introduction to Music Business Units: 3
MPA 300 - Major ProSeminar Units: 2
MPA 304 - Writing About Music Units: 3
MPA 305 - Measuring Music Units: 3
MPA 317S - Community Involvement Service Learning Units: 3
MPA 340 - Music Production & Artistic Development Units: 1
MPA 384 - Music in Context Units: 3
MPA 475A - Senior Capstone I Units: 2
MPA 475B - Senior Capstone II Units: 2

Music Technology Concentration

Complete two units from the following courses:
MPA 368 - Songwriting Units: 2
MPA 370 - Acoustic Composition Units: 2
MPA 371 - Composition Seminar Units: 2
MPA 372 - Screen Scoring Units: 2
Complete all of the following courses:
MPA 307 - Recording in the Studio Units: 3
MPA 308 - Mixing & Mastering Units: 3
MPA 369 - Post-Production Audio Units: 2
MPA 408 - Advanced Audio Production Units: 3
MPA 418 - Live Sound Units: 2
MPA 419 - MIDI, Synthesis, & Digital Signal Processing Units: 2

General Education & University Requirements

To satisfy the requirements of the degree, students must successfully complete all Undergraduate Requirements . Several of these (Upper division GE Area 2, Upper division GE Area 4, Upper division Service Learning, and GWAR) are embedded in the major coursework.

Select and complete coursework to meet the following requirements:

Upper division GE Area 3 course must double count with American Institutions US 1

World Culture & Language

Students may select additional elective coursework if necessary to complete 60 units.
